October 22, Thursday evening sees the world première of the monography about Mode Muntu by Michaël de Plaen. This event gave the occasion to honour other early students taught by Laurent Moonens in the Arts Academy he created in 1951, today the Fine Arts Institute of Lubumbashi. They were handed a medal & a souvenir folder by Mr Stéphane Doppagne Consul of Belgium, and by Mrs Séraphine Mbeya, Principal of the Fine Arts Institute. Among the early students was also Maître Kalumba, copper sculptor and student of Claude Charlier in the 50's.
